Panic Attacks

If you do not suffer from panic attacks, consider yourself fortunate. I have been struggling with panic attacks since 1991 and they are no fun. Normally, I can defuse the situation and ward off a panic attack but sometimes they sneak upon me - like today. I was minding my own business when one hit me. My solution for a panic attack is to take my medicine and find a cat! Sam is the best medicine for any illness, but particularly a panic attack. He will lay with me and purr and pet me until I feel better. It's a good thing!

  1. I have never had a panic attack, but knew people who have. I am so happy your kitty helps you through it. Feel better soon.

  2. Susan,

I've been going through this a lot off and on lately. Either panic attacks or anxiety attacks. Either way, I freak and feel frozen and fearful and like I can't breathe. It is awful! Mine tend to hit in the middle of the night for some reason.

  3. I am glad that you had your Sam to love you through a hard time. It sounds like medical science was a big help, but Sam was the true comfort and healer. I see now why people love their pets so much.

  4. Ever since I was a teenager, I've found that cats are great for comfort. I used to cry a lot as a moody teen and my poor kitty was always wet from my tears! Now when I'm feeling down, I love to lie with Zippo and cuddle with him. It's like cats just KNOW when you need comforting. I'm glad that Sam helps you when you're suffering from panic attacks.
