Make Do & Mend Monday - Re-Furbished Mouse Pad

Don't you just love this sweet mouse pad?  This is my Make Do & Mend project for the week.  When I was cleaning out my closet yesterday, I found this mouse pad.  Look at the picture below.  As you can tell, the boys really liked this mouse pad as well.  *grins*

As you can see, it has seen better days but I couldn't bear to throw it away because it is one of those really thick, nice mouse pads.  So, I decided I would just give it a new life by a make over!  I found a scrap of material that I loved (with cats on it of course!). I traced around the mouse pad on to the back of the material and cut it out leaving about an inch margin all the way around.

After I cut it out, I ironed the material on to wonder under (any type of fusible web will work).  I then ironed it on to the mouse pad and trimmed around the mouse pad to get my new top!  Easy as can be!  This took me about 10 minutes to do.  How simple is that?

Just be careful not to cut the mouse pad as you are trimming the material.  I just love it!  Best of all, since I had all the materials on hand, it didn't cost me a thing!  That's a good thing!

I am linking this to Heidi's Make Do and Mend Monday.  (I know, I am one day late - as usual!)

Thank you for dropping by!

  1. Hi Susan
that is a very cute re-do and it looks like you.
I have a fabric covered mousepad that I won for a blog giveaway years ago and I still like it just as much as when I first got it.

hope you are having a wonderful week!

  3. What a great idea! I have an old mouse pad that I use with my laptop (I can't use a touchpad) and I think I'll try your idea on it. I love that you used cat fabric on yours!
