The Black Bear - we have several around here in our woods. They hibernate for up to 100 days!
The Box Turtle - again, very common in my part of the country. They hibernate from 77-154 days!
The Common PoorWill. Did you know that this bird sleeps the winter away? They will hibernate under a rock or a log for up to 100 days! I really like this little bird.
And, finally, since I have have not been here since Fall, I too have hibernated for over 100 days! The difference is that I have gone to work, taken care of my family, and spent many days under the weather.
I am glad that spring is here!
Welcome back! I am happy to see spring as well.
ReplyDeleteI never heard of the Common Poorwill. Never heard of a hibernating bird for that matter What part of the state do they live in? And amen to Spring showing up...seems to be slow in coming.
ReplyDeleteIt is found from British Columbia and southeastern Alberta, through the western United States to northern Mexico.
