Beating Around the Bush

My snowball bush is almost ready to start sharing its beautiful white blooms with me.

I had it trimmed back drastically last year - it was taller than the house!

I was concerned it might not bloom.

I just love it when it is all in bloom - apparently, the bees do too!!

Pinned It, Made it!

I stumbled across a party that features things that you pinned and then made.  I thought that was a wonderful idea!

My entry is one that I have been making for the past year - Grandmother's Favorite Dishcloth.  I love knitting these dishcloths because they are quick and easy - a perfect craft for watching TV, sitting at the doctor's office, riding in the car, waiting on the boys, etc....

I also love to wash dishes with these.  They are divine to use as dishcloths!  Once you have used these to wash dishes, everything else does not compare.

I like to give these away to people.  They can be used as dishcloths, washcloths, potholders, spa cloths, etc...  They are very versatile.

The picture above was what I gave my boys' school teachers the last day of school last year.

Here's the original Pinterest, along with the instructions:

Happy Easter!

"The joy of loving Jesus comes from the joy of sharing in His sufferings.  So do not allow  yourself to be troubled or distressed, but believe in the joy of the Resurrection.  In all our lives, as in the life of Jesus, the Resurrection has to come, the joy of Easter has to dawn."

My name is Oscar and I am very spoiled!

Here I am in profile.  Aren't I handsome?  Below is my sister.
I think she is very sweet as well.  We have never been apart.

Four animals that hibernate for the winter

The Black Bear - we have several around here in our woods.  They hibernate for up to 100 days!

The Box Turtle - again, very common in my part of the country.  They hibernate from 77-154 days!

The Common PoorWill.  Did you know that this bird sleeps the winter away?  They will hibernate under a rock or a log for up to 100 days!  I really like this little bird.

And, finally, since I have have not been here since Fall, I too have hibernated for over 100 days!  The difference is that I have gone to work, taken care of my family, and spent many days under the weather.

I am glad that spring is here!

It's Fall, Y'all!

I really like some of the specimen art that has been floating around the internet these days.

It was always on my "want to do" list.

So, with fall here, I decided to make one with trees.

First, I decided to upcycle a grocery bag for my background.
(Plus, this was all about not spending any money!)

The trees were punched from a magazine.

Then, I decided the grocery bag did not provide enough contrast.

So, I painted the background (grocery bag) with browns and red.
(I used D's art kit.  He was not at home at the time!)

I like how it turned out so much, I think I will do one for each season.

Plus, I think it is good for my children to see me being creative.

On the TABLE!!

I finished my table runner that I have been working on!

Really it's the second table runner I started.
(The first one is still waiting on me.)

I have lots of jeans that the boys cannot wear any longer.

I knew it was time to either do something with them or donate them.

My first thought was to make a blanket.

But, I decided I would start with something simple first!

While surfing the web, I ran across this tutorial located here.

So, I cut my circles and used a charm pack to select my fabric.

It only took me a couple of days.

I could have done it in one day if my family members would have quit interrupting me seeking advice from me!

The nicest thing about this is that when N saw me using his jeans, he smiled from ear to ear and mention it to me.

Since he is one not to express his thoughts or emotions, that was a huge step.

Of course, he also said it would make a "wicked scarf" or a cape!

Back to the jeans, I did donate all the ones that were still in good condition.  I only kept the ones beyond repair.

On the back, I used a variegated thread.

I thought it would add more interest!

Thanks for dropping by and visiting!
