2 more ornaments
I stitched these 2 ornaments this past week while I was under the weather and not feeling good. I finished them this morning and am pleased with how they turned out! This makes #6 and #7 of my cross stitch ornament goal. I have a goal of 12! I might just make it this year!!
This one was designed by my friend, Heidi, at Needle Necessities. You need to check out her free pattern each month on the 15th! While you are there, look around at her creative spirit. You are in for a rare treat!
This was was a freebie from the Lizzie-Kate site! I adore Lizzie Kate patterns. I think they are fun to stitch and whimsical at the same time. I love small patterns that I can complete in a few hours.

More bedrooms
I love this bedroom. I love the colors, the afghan, just everything. It's a little too "girly" for my husband. I don't think he would enjoy sleeping in a pink room. I don't think I could get the boys to go for it either.
Notice the change in the feel of this bedroom by just changing a few accessories.
I really like this but I would not want to sleep under it every night. I would be afraid the thing would fall on me. I think I will keep my tree limbs outside....

Gift from Heidi!
Christmas ornament #5
Well, I am on a roll! I have actually completed 5 cross stitch ornaments for next year (that's about 3 more than I ever have before!!) This one is designed my friend Heidi, who is an incredible talented person. Please check out her blog, Needle Necessities, to see how this should look! Don't judge her talents by my work. My apologies to her for my ornament. She offers a free pattern on the 15th of every month. I just love her work! This was February's ornament. I'm a little behind.
Now, let me explain about this ornament. I did not have the color of cloth that I wanted to use to cross-stitch this ornament. As I was going through my box of cross-stitch fabric, I found some waste canvas and thought that I should use it. (I am really trying to use my stash of crafts before buying new stuff!) *sigh* Anyway, this did not turn out how I imagined but I think it will be fine on a tree.

New flooring??....Maybe!!
We talked to a local flooring contractor about installing wooden floors in our house yesterday. We have saved our money to make some home repairs. Our current carpet is 13 years old and is really ready to go out the door. I am thinking that wooden floors and no curtains may really help with my allergies. So, we are looking at this expenditure as a health issue as well. The best part of all is that this will be an all cash transaction. We are really careful not to go into debt for any thing.
I know the cats will enjoy walking across the floor hearing their little paw click. The boys will enjoy it to roll their cars (which works much better on wood than carpet.) I do worry about the noise factor. We will have to get some large rugs to help with that. We have a local thrift store that will have something that we can use until we save up for what we want, or we can live with it just as it is. I am really excited to get started on our house repairs/upgrading. I think we will work on this for about 5 years to get everything done that I want. This year, the floors. Next year, the bathrooms. The 3rd year, new counters in the kitchen. The 4th - 5th year, build a garage (maybe)!

Thank you Linda!!
My friend, Linda, had a giveaway on her blog and I was the lucky winner! This is the chart I received in the mail today!
This is called "Winter Row" by Bent Creek. I can't wait to start stitching this lovely pattern! Thank you Linda for being so generous and sending this my way!!
What Linda did not know is that I love all the row charts by Bent Creek. I have the Kitty Cat Row and I would like the Teacher Row. So many projects, so little time!

Dream Bedrooms
Country Living has to be one of my most favorite websites. It has the most beautiful pictures of what I would love for my home to look like. I found these pictures of bedrooms that have me drooling envious thinking of how I can incorporate some of these ideas in our master bedroom.
I love these baskets at the end of the bed - so pretty!
And, these hats above the bed!Friday, March 13, 2009

What I'm reading...
I picked this book up at Wal-Mart this morning. I am really enjoyed reading it and have already started using some of the practices in the book. Here's a synopsis:
Product Description: Every kid in America will hate this book! But moms will love it!
Tired of defiant attitudes and power struggles with your little ankle-biters? Then you need this book. With his signature wit and wisdom, internationally recognized family expert Dr. Kevin Leman reveals why your kids do what they do and what you can do about it. He gives you simple principles that can give you results in as little as 5 days.
From the Inside Flap: Today's kids are unionized, and they've got a game plan to drive you up the wall. But you don't have to let them call the shots. If you picked up this book, you did so for a reason. You'd like to see a few things--or many--change in your house. Have a New Kid by Friday is a game plan guaranteed to work. All it takes is sticking to some simple strategies--strategies any parent can carry out. I'll be blunt. You've got a big job to do and a short window in which to do it. If you believe that you are to be in healthy authority over your child, this book is for you. If you don't, put it down right now and buy another. After you read Have a New Kid by Friday, you'll tell yourself, "I can't wait for my kids to misbehave. I'm ready for them!" I promise. Let the fun begin. . . .
From the Back Cover: Change your child's behavior--fast! Want a kid without the attitude? Without the behavior that makes you slink away in the grocery store and pretend you're not the parent? A kid with character who isn't a character? If you're tired of defiant attitudes and power struggles with your little ankle-biters or the disrespectful hormone group, read this book and follow the simple principles, and you'll have a new kid by Friday. Guaranteed!

candles and love
I found these scented Bill Blass candles and LOVE sign at Big Lots for almost nothing. I just love the look of both. The candles were in a pack of 6 for just a couple of dollars. I think the wooden LOVE sign was less than $5. I thought both were a good buy, especially since I had seen them both at high end stores for much, much more!!
