Make Do and Mend- Curling Iron Cover

This is a Vera Bradley curling iron cover which costs somewhere in the neighborhood of $18 not counting taxes and shipping.  It's very lovely but you are not going to take it out for an evening.  It is a utilitarian accessory.  No need to spend that much money unless you just really LOVE Vera!

This is my version of the same thing.  It serves the same purpose.  Mine was free!  I took a new potholder which I had gotten several years ago, and sewed it on the edges with a zig-zag stitch.  It works perfectly!  I think I paid a dollar for this at the local dollar store.  On Wednesday morning, as we were leaving for a few days, I used the curling iron, unplugged it, slipped it into it's cover, and packed it without a worry!  Very cool!!  So, look through those potholders before spending a lot on a name brand curling iron holder!

Have a great day!
Susan

  1. I am just loving all these great Make do and Mends! This is fabulous. What you cannot do with a potholder...lol. It works perfectly and looks really country with the checks. Vera is just so expensive. I have one tote bag that my mother got at cost when she was working since a customer told her FM patients can carry them well. It is true but they are just too pricey.

Thanks for sharing another fab idea.

  3. Your ideas are definitely worth writing a craft book - they seem simple to you, but these books serve as idea finders for others!
